How to measure a cardboard box

Knowing what size box you need is a good place to start. One of our most frequently asked questions is how to measure a box, we have recently put this graphic on all of our boxes pages to try and help you out.

All of our boxes are measured internally in length x width x height. This would be the longest side panel x the shortest side panel x the height of the box, remembering to use a tape measure inside, not outside the box.

You’d think it wouldn’t make much difference but you’d be amazed at the difference 5-15mm makes.

What’s the difference between a single and double wall box?

Strength. The thicker the box, the stronger it is.

Single Wall

Single wall boxes are suitable for the vast majority of items being packed or stored. If you’re sending items through the post, single wall boxes are a cost effective option as they offer protection and they are light.

Double Wall

Double wall boxes are frequently used for storage. You can stack these boxes one on top of the other for longer periods of time than single wall and avoid any crushing. Double wall is ideal for home moving and removal industries giving you peace of mind that your possessions are being protected by a strong and durable box.

Triple Wall

Triple wall boxes are the strongest form of a corrugated case made from heavy duty board. Triple wall corrugated cardboard is growing as a material to compete with traditional timber and plywood for heavy duty packaging. It is cost effective and is much easier to recycle.

Printed Boxes

We offer a bespoke printing facility on single, double and triple wall boxes from our manufacturing plant. Single and double wall boxes are available in a two colour print and triple wall is available in one colour.
